PIEDMONT FEDERAL BUYS OUT THEATRE SEATS TO PROVIDE FREE MOVIE SHOWINGS

North Wilkesboro, NC – December 11, 2018 – Piedmont Federal Savings Bank and Liberty Theatre teamed up to benefit Communities in Schools on Friday, December 7th, with free showings of the holiday classic, It’s a Wonderful Life, and the new animated comedy, The Grinch.  Attendees were asked to bring stocking stuffer gifts such as hair accessories, socks, chocolates, and hats to help Communities In Schools in its extensive efforts throughout Wilkes, Alexander, and Ashe Counties.

“Our partnership with Piedmont Federal helps to gather gifts for the young people that we serve while raising awareness of our mission to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life,” explained Glendora Yarbrough, Executive Director of Communities In Schools.  “We look forward to this event each year which has become an important part of our work.”  Attendance at this year’s movie showings was record breaking with attendees as well as passersby donating items and funds to Communities In Schools.

“This is the sixth year we have sponsored the event with momentum and support growing each year,” commented Ginger Salt, Senior Vice President – CMO, Piedmont Federal.  “The work that Communities in Schools does is so very important and is consistent with our own mission to nurture a better quality of life for our communities.”  Communities in Schools works with students at the schools using a network supported by volunteers, grants, and contributions.  Over 99% of students impacted by Communities In Schools are promoted to the next grade and 97% of seniors graduate.
