Scams aren’t new but the way they show up today is constantly changing. Many scams are designed to look familiar and trustworthy.

Fake Websites: One common tactic involves fake websites that closely resemble a real bank’s site. The websites may look very realistic at first glance but small details matter. Here’s a typical scenario:

  • You search for your bank online
  • The first results you see are often sponsored ads
  • Scammers sometimes pay for those ads and link them to look-alike websites
  • If someone enters their login information on a fake site, scammers can capture it and access the account

Red Flags: Scams often rely on urgency or distraction. Pause and look for these warning signs:

  • A web address with extra characters, misspellings, or subtle changes
  • Messages urging you to act immediately
  • Emails or texts asking you to click a link or share personal information
  • Unexpected login prompts after clicking a search result or ad
  • If something feels off, trust that instinct

Simple Ways to Avoid Scams

1. Bookmark our website
Save piedmontfederal.bank in your browser so you don’t need to rely on search results.

2. Check the address bar before logging in and look for:

  • piedmontfederal.bank
  • “https” at the beginning
  • A padlock icon showing the site is secure

3. Keep your contact information up to date
Accurate phone numbers and emails ensure you receive important alerts if something unusual happens.

4. Be cautious with links
Avoid clicking links in unexpected emails or texts, even if they appear to come from a trusted source. When in doubt, go directly to our website.

5. Act quickly if something doesn’t look right
